It began with a <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/Dann_Sw\/status\/1593453558749437952\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">senior character artist working on Overwatch<\/a> admitting he hid &#8220;abstracted versions of Loss in older projects&#8221;, and continued from there.<\/p>\n<p>Other developers confessed to similar Loss-related crimes against videogames. For anyone who has remained blessedly ignorant of the Loss meme until now, it began when middling videogame-themed webcomic Ctrl+Alt+Del took an unexpected turn for the dramatic with a strip depicting miscarriage. The attempt to add emotional heft to a gamers-on-a-couch gag strip was so mockable that chronically online people torment each other with <a href=\"https:\/\/knowyourmeme.com\/news\/heres-to-loss-the-internets-greatest-meme\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">minimalist-yet-recognizable interpretations of its four panels<\/a> to this day.<\/p>\n<p>And that is why there is a <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/broodovermind\/status\/1502044650990981123\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Loss edit on an alligator in Maneater<\/a>, an entire <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/ryeander\/status\/1593692453382389761\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">level in Super Meat Boy Forever that references Loss<\/a>, and a <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/sir_habboi\/status\/1593731852480626688\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Loss meme &#8220;the size of a cruise ship&#8221; somewhere in A Hat in Time<\/a>. Hiding Loss edits in textures and <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/morlequariat\/status\/1594163867260944387\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">tilesets<\/a> is a recurring theme of the thread, as well as hiding other images and animations whether <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/BryNgons\/status\/1593583095629766656\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">bananas<\/a> or the <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/CalIMeMaebe\/status\/1593749713425076224\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Naruto run<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Like an image in a texture no one will ever notice, many of the &#8220;sins&#8221; aren&#8217;t really that sinful. For instance, agreeing to reduce the reload and run speed buffs in Far Cry 6 then <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/Pseudohausen\/status\/1593762386711912449\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">never doing it<\/a> would make you a hero in the eyes of many. Likewise, the champion tester who noticed that in The Witcher 3 when Triss turned 180 degrees &#8220;her boobs would keep on jiggling for solid 15 seconds&#8221; and <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/outstarwalker\/status\/1594096347648778240\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">submitted a ticket to nerf that boob jiggle<\/a>. Or the <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/Selestrielle\/status\/1593476485372944386\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">writer on Guardians of the Galaxy<\/a> responsible for characters mentioning an alternate name suggested for their team was Stardust Crusaders, in reference to an arc of JoJo&#8217;s Bizarre Adventure.<\/p>\n<p>Other admissions are the kind of delightful dev hacks reminiscent of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pcgamer.com\/heres-whats-happening-inside-fallout-3s-metro-train\/\">Fallout 3&#8217;s metro car actually being an item of clothing equipped on the player&#8217;s hand<\/a>. Here&#8217;s a perfect example: <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/SerivaTiger\/status\/1594292526009065472\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">in Outer Wilds the player doesn&#8217;t move<\/a>, the entire rest of the universe does, as it makes movement and aiming smoother. And in Outriders, there&#8217;s a forest fire scene but no system for fire propagation, so some poor designer had to script <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/levelsbyjohn\/status\/1594053130336993281\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">&#8220;about 600 plants to individually catch fire&#8221;<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Not all are without sin, however.
